OMNI Data Center Indonesia, in collaboration with the Indonesian Internet Service Provider Association (APJII), has inaugurated the Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX) in Batam.
The strategic partnership between OMNI Data Center and APJII aims to transform Batam into a principal internet hub in Indonesia, facilitating faster data exchange and improving internet quality for users throughout the region. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision to position Indonesia as a leading digital economy in Southeast Asia.
The launch event, held at the OMNI Data Center office in Batam Center on August 14, 2024, was attended by key figures, including Halim, Director of OMNI Data Center Indonesia, and Muhammad Arif, Chairman of APJII. Their collaboration signifies a historic moment in enhancing Indonesia’s national internet network.
Halim expressed that the establishment of the IIX in Batam is expected to make the city a major internet hub in Indonesia, which will accelerate access and improve connectivity for regional users. The presence of IIX is anticipated to provide direct benefits to internet service providers (ISPs) and digital service providers across Indonesia.

APJII’s Chairman, Muhammad Arif, highlighted Batam’s strategic location near international routes and Singapore, making it an ideal choice for expanding Indonesia’s internet exchange network. This move is expected to spur digital industry growth in the area and contribute to the broader regional digital economy.
This initiative is part of the Indonesian government’s broader agenda to promote digital infrastructure across the nation, supporting the vision of becoming the largest digital economy in Southeast Asia. Both OMNI Data Center and APJII are committed to delivering high standards of data exchange and connectivity.
The IIX will leverage advanced technology to offer robust connectivity solutions. This development is expected to enhance the efficiency of Internet services and data transfer, benefiting various stakeholders, including businesses, government agencies, and the general public in Indonesia.
